Below is the beginning of a collection of some of Rainy Day Poems’ favorite illustrated children’s stories for kids. In a fast paced world where multi-tasking is the only way to get everything done in the day, taking a moment to interact with a child is more important than ever. Children grow fast and every opportunity for time together is a precious thing. Reading a book or a poem a day is a great way to spend time and build a love of learning.
Along with the many poems for all ages we have on this site, we now have stories for children, ranging from long chapter to short and impactful. There’s a little something for every age of child.

Black Beauty, Young Folks’ Edition, by Anna Sewell
The first place that I can well remember was a pleasant meadow with a pond of clear water in it. Over the hedge on one side we looked into a plowed field, and on the other we looked over a gate at our master’s house, which stood by the roadside. While I was young I lived upon my mother’s milk, as I could not eat grass. In the daytime I ran by her side, and at night I lay down close by her. When it was hot we used to stand by the pond in the shade of the trees, and when it was cold we had a warm shed near the grove.
