Who’s the Genie in the Sink? by Jordan Spittal

There’s a genie in my sink
Oh can’t you see?
He’s staring right at me!
I only see him when
I brush my teeth
I don’t know if he’s a friend, a foe or a thief
He looks at me each night and winks when
I finish my job
And I wonder what the genie does when
I’ve spat the toothpaste out my gob!
He doesn’t seem a mean genie
And he never speaks at all
He actually looks quite big,
Which is strange as he’s so small
There’s something about that genie
When I am brushing my teeth
Something about this genie, whilst
I’m brushing away
Makes me feel comfortable, makes me feel ok.
I realize now the genie is here to protect me
I just wish this little genie;
I wish that he was free
