Dear Mom by Jared Hottenstein

There’s dirty dishes in the sink
The overflowing trashcan stinks
The hamper’s full of dirty clothes
The dog needs water, and no one knows
when dinner will be on my plate
I’m starving here! I just can’t wait.
I’m stuck on homework, number four
And did you wash those pants I wore?
Did the mustard stain come out?
My lunch needs packing, how about
Ham and turkey on all-wheat toast
And don’t forget what I love most
Those cheesy things that are spicy-hot
And one more thing I almost forgot…
I’ll be sleeping in… I’ve had a lot to do
Life is busy for a kid… if mothers only knew.
