Fierce Apology by Bob Langill

I accept your fierce apology

As you struggle to move your left foot

Amid a sudden savage weakness

That scares me tonight.

“I’m sorry. This isn’t what I wanted.”

I know.

How much it would delight you

To tickle my side and scurry off giggling.

It’s there.

So I accept your fierce apology.

I support you as you clutch the walker

And move your left foot

two inches

And keep us both from falling

into despair.
