Growing up represents something different to everyone, but in every culture and generation there are practices that each person interacts with as the individual experiencing the growth process or as the adult participating indirectly in it. One thing that seems to be a standard of practice, for an array of reasons, is to grow up as fast as possible. Leave behind childish fancies and enter the independent adult world as quickly as one can. It’s hard to say whether this is bad or good, but most certainly it is something to think about. Below is a compilation of different poems written by a diverse group of poets that in some way contemplates growing up. If you know a poem that eloquently represents this theme and you don’t see it below, please contact us and we will try to add it to the list.
